“My Still Lifes represent the fall of light upon a variety of textures.  To produce them I arrange common, as well as unexpected items

in a manner that is meant to stimulate the viewer beyond the painted surface: sometimes intended to evoke humor, sometimes intended to imply an event or story.  I have become particularly fond of utilizing origami dragons as main characters which occupy a fictional "Kingdom", as well as including colored glass to produce luminous shadows.”  -Daniel Mark Cassity

Among various national and regional exhibitions/competitions of note, Daniel, was accepted into the Society of Illustrator’s National Scholarship Competition in 1986, selected as a finalist in The Artist’s Magazine’s Annual Art Competitions in 2010, 2011, & 2012, including a Competition Spotlight feature in the July/August issue of 2011, juried into both the Oil Painters of America’s National Exhibition and Salon Show of 2013, and selected as a finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon of 2012/2013. He is also a member of the International Guild of Realism: a select group of around 300 members in 35 countries worldwide: participating in their 8^th Annual Juried Exhibition of 2013.  He was also been invited to participate in American Still Lifes: a traveling museum exhibition scheduled to open in the spring of 2014.

The art of Daniel Cassity and Marlen Waters will be in BAC's East Bank Gallery, 630 Barksdale Blvd., From July 17-August 17 with an opening reception on July 20th @3pm
