The Art of Jason Pliler Featured at The Louisiana Towers

BAC and the Community Foundation are Proud to Feature the Art of
Jason Pliler

Slattery Building

I work with the old chemical processes.  I enjoy the science behind it.  I enjoy keeping the history of it alive. The process has a sense of magic.  There are no instant results working with film. When you place your paper in the developer bath and you see the image slowly appear on this white sheet of paper it still amazes me, even after all these years. Photography is collision of art and science. It allows me to tap my analytical and nerdy side to allow me to express my creativity.
-Jason Pliler

Jason's work will be featured at The Louisiana Towers, 401 Edwards Street in Downtown Shreveport beginning on December 1and will hang until March 1, 2014.  Please go by and see these hauntingly beautiful pieces.  They are on sale and would make a special holiday gift for a loved one or yourself!

Student Art Show Opening TODAY!

Starting this December the Bossier Arts Council (BAC) is elated to host the Bossier Parish student art exhibition What Art Means to Me. The overall theme of the show is to get students to express themselves with original ideas and creative expression.

Each student is asked to create their own, original artwork showcasing themselves or their interests. This freedom of expression instills confidence within the students. Robin Jones, Education Coordinator, of the BAC states, "Displaying students work lets them know you value it -- and them."The show features Bossier Parish students from K-12th grade.

The accepted media includes drawing, paint, collage, print, graphic art, along with digital and traditional photography. All media 2-D and 3-D art, are accepted given that they are not of inappropriate material. All submitted work must be ready for display, including framing being wired, and label with the information.

An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, with an opening award ceremony at 7:30pm. Thanks in part to an Arts 4 Moore Grant and a generous contribution from Bossier Parish Community College BAC will award $1500 in prizes and art supplies. "This is a project that the Bossier Arts Council believes in and will continue to support the kids in our area, by providing the gallery space and by recognizing their talents. " stated by Jones. The pieces will hang in the gallery all through December and January.
