Artini Weekly Update
BIG ANNOUNCEMNT: This year's Mover & Shaker Award will go to Mike McSwain! We are thrilled that he has agreed to accept this years 2013 award. Now for a little of this incredibly down to earth individual. He currently serves organizations such as American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration, Downtown Shreveport Rotary Club, Texas Tech Alumni Association, Program Advisor – Louisiana Tech University, Ruston - College of Architecture, Immediate Past Chairman and current Board Member of Sci-Port Discovery Center, Committee of 100, Board Member on the Caddo Council of Aging, and AIA Shreveport Chapter. The 2013 Mover and Shaker will be added to a list of honors which already includes Excellence in Design Award for Sci-Port Discovery Center which was awarded by the American Institute of Architects, Fireplace Design Competition Merit Winner for “the Sanctuary” residence by Sparkfire, Bridge Design Competition 1st place awarded by the Louisiana State AIA. WOW THAT WAS A MOUTHFUL! No, seriously it is an honor to add him to the list of our Mover's and Shaker's.
SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT: This week we would like to give a HUGE thank you to Boomtown Casino. These folks are more than generous and have been a big part of making this even a success. Who knows what we would do without them. We also want to brag on these guys for a moment. Just last week the Bossier Chamber of Commerce awarded them 2012 Business of the Year! Not that we are surprised!
RESTAURANT SHOUT OUT: Where would we be without our competing restaurants. This week we want to give a HUGE shout out to Don Juanz Baja Beach Tacos and Ristorante Giuseppe. These two our just a couple of the competitors vying for the coveted awards. Be sure to stop by and tell them "Thank You" for being such swell people.
FUND UPDATE: While we all know that Artini is one of the Best Events of the year it a whole lot more than a jamming party it's also a crucial part of BAC's funding. Today I wanted to highlight just one of the many projects that these funds go to support, The East Bank Theatre. BAC is committed to producing high quality theatrical productions while offering opportunities for artistic growth in our community. Most recently we had our production of "Eight Reindeer Monologues" which I am thrilled to say was a mixed cast of experienced and new comers. In March we will be producing an original work by local Matt Latz titled "Bumped Off". Without donors like Artini Attendees this project wouldn't be possible.
